EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE COLORADO RANGE RIDER YOUTH CORPS

The Colorado Range Rider Youth Corps provides opportunities for eastern Colorado youth to work, serve and learn in an outdoor environment, while providing high-quality labor solutions for eastern Colorado communities and land managers. Youth work in crews of eight with a supervisor. They complete conservation and community development work for a variety entities. They complete projects like trail building, park enhancements, and noxious weed removal, while living and working as a group. Eligible CorpsMembers may also earn an AmeriCorps Education Award.

CRRYC presently has two program-types available:

2008 Spring and Fall Weed Crews

Youth range in age from 18 to 25, depending upon crew placement
Residential program, youth “in the field” in 11-day “hitches”.
Crew will spend their season camping out when on hitch.
Projects include state and national park properties, conservation, restoration, recreation enhancement, disaster relief, and noxious weed mitigation.
While work may vary, primary training will be conducted for Noxious Weed Mitigation and Fire Fuels Reduction. Corpsmembers will be trained in the proper use of Chainsaws, and Study for their State of Colorado Chemical Applicator Certification

2008 Summer Camping Crews

Youth range in age from 16 to 25, depending upon crew placement
Residential program -- Youth are "in the field" for 4-8 day "hitches" depending upon crew placement.
Youth who are AmeriCorps eligible can earn, in addition to their weekly rate, an AmeriCorps Education Award.
Projects may include state and national park properties, conservation, restoration, recreation enhancement, disaster relief, and noxious weed mitigation.
CRRYC offers Work, Education, and the opportunity to become part of a team. Employees are required to participate fully with ALL aspects of the program, and commit to the entire 8-week season.
